Infidelity

I confessed to my husband yesterday that I am in love with another man. He listened quietly to how and why this has happened and seemed to understand.

I met Walt last year and since then we have talked or watched the water and the birds together.
Walt was the subject of one of my poems last year and my esteem for him has continued to grow.
Our conversations center around our love of the island and how blessed we are to live with all this beauty surrounding us; how we find it balances and centers us, reminds us of what is important.

He took my hand yesterday, the first time we have touched. While he held my hand we prayed for my daughter and my friend. Tears were in his eyes when we finished. We embraced.

Walt is 88 years old but still wears his cowboy boots with flair. He has a way with words, and sly humor. He served in World War II and has spent his life on the water. When I love someone they are beautiful, no matter their appearance, and Walt's soul is written on his face. He laughs genuinely and kindly.

I'm sure Michael will forgive me.

I'm all tearing up here... your relationship with Walt sounds so much like mine with Ruby - something incredibly precious. I never could understand why my previous Pseudo-Other didn't want to sit and talk and laugh with her. He couldn't seem to see what he was missing out on.

I'm sure Walt holds a tremendously special place in your heart. I'm glad you've found each other.
